Upcoming elections
The next elections are likely to be held in May 2027. This is expected to be to elect councillors to the new Shadow Authority of the new unitary council, which is due to come into effect on 1st April 2028.
Local Government Reform (LGR)
In December 2024, the UK Government published proposals for major changes to how local government is structured and run. As part of these changes, it is currently expected that Watford Borough Council will cease to exist as of 1 April 2028 and will be replaced by a new authority.
