The Garden Waste Service is reopening on 1 June
From 1 June, our service will be open again.
- You can sign up by direct debit or card
- Your collections will run until 31 August 2027
- If you previously paid by card, you'll need to renew your service to continue your collections
- If you signed up by direct debit, your service will renew automatically
How does it work?
Follow these steps:
- Login or register for a My Watford account
- Sign up for the garden waste collection service
- You will receive a sticker for each bin within two weeks
- Apply the sticker to the back of your green bin
- Put your bin out for collection on your property boundary by 6am on your collection day
- Bring your bin back within 24 hours of collection
How much does it cost?
Standard
- £62.40 a year for first bin
- £80 a year for each additional bin (up to seven bins in total)
Those receiving council-related benefits
- £40 a year for each bin (see terms and conditions - up to seven bins in total)

- Child Tax Credit
- Council Tax Benefit / Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme
- Employment and Support Allowance (income based)
- Guaranteed Pension Credit (not Savings Pension Credit)
- Housing Benefit
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (income based)
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credit
Qualifying schools, places of worship and charity shops
- £62.40 a year for each bin (up to seven bins in total)
Card payments - renewals
The renewal period will run between 1 June 2026 and 31 August 2026.
If you pay by card, you will need to renew your service to continue your collections from 1 September 2026.
