Chargeable Garden Waste Collection Service

The Garden Waste Service is reopening on 1 June

From 1 June, our service will be open again.

  • You can sign up by direct debit or card
  • Your collections will run until 31 August 2027
  • If you previously paid by card, you'll need to renew your service to continue your collections
  • If you signed up by direct debit, your service will renew automatically

How does it work?

Follow these steps:

  1. Login or register for a My Watford account
  2. Sign up for the garden waste collection service
  3. You will receive a sticker for each bin within two weeks
  4. Apply the sticker to the back of your green bin
  5. Put your bin out for collection on your property boundary by 6am on your collection day
  6. Bring your bin back within 24 hours of collection

How much does it cost?

Standard

  • £62.40 a year for first bin
  • £80 a year for each additional bin (up to seven bins in total)

Those receiving council-related benefits

Here is a list of qualifying benefits:

  • Child Tax Credit
  • Council Tax Benefit / Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme
  • Employment and Support Allowance (income based)
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit (not Savings Pension Credit)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (income based)
  • Universal Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

Qualifying schools, places of worship and charity shops

  • £62.40 a year for each bin (up to seven bins in total)

Card payments - renewals

The renewal period will run between 1 June 2026 and 31 August 2026.

If you pay by card, you will need to renew your service to continue your collections from 1 September 2026.
