The Town Hall has always been one of Watford’s most familiar landmarks, a building generations have walked past, had fond memories of, or simply known as part of the town’s story. Yet over the years, it slowly became a place fewer people entered. With services becoming more digital, offices and meeting rooms replaced the lively civic heart it was built to be.

A new Town Hall Café

Located on the ground floor with a terrace overlooking the Town Square, the café will be a vibrant space serving visitors to the Museum of Watford, Innovation Hub users, and the community.

A new home for innovation

In early 2026 Watford’s cabinet appointed Co-Space as its partner to develop and deliver a new Innovation and Incubation Hub, supported by £2 million of funding from Hertfordshire Futures and £8 million Government funding, within the soon-to-be refurbished Town Hall.

Watford has declared a climate emergency and pledged to make the council net zero carbon by the end of 2030.

Museum and Heritage

To better showcase Watford's rich history and dynamic spirit, we plan to relocate the Museum of Watford, and its growing historical collection, to Watford Town Hall, including in its listed 1930s design ‘committee rooms’.
