Oxhey residents elect new ward councillor following by-election

Residents of Oxhey have voted Liberal Democrat Councillor Imran Hamid to represent them. A by-election took place in Oxhey yesterday (21 June), to fill the vacancy left by newly elected Mayor Peter Taylor, who was previously ward councillor for Oxhey.

There was a 28.25% turnout and Cllr Hamid was elected with 828 votes.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, said: "Congratulations to Imran, who I know will make a fantastic councillor in Oxhey and make it an even better place for residents to live and work. I look forward to him to working with him.’

Oxhey Ward Cllr Imran Hamid, said: "I’m so honoured to be elected to represent the community I love. I’m looking forward to improving Oxhey and am committed to making it wonderful for all the people who live there. I’ll always make sure that I keep in touch with residents and work hard all year round. I can’t wait to get stuck in."
