Sustainable Watford

Transforming Travel in Watford Survey

In July 2019 we declared a Climate Emergency and set out our commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of the borough and of the council itself.

Our ambitious goal is to make the borough carbon neutral by 2030 and this will require making big changes to the way we all live, travel and work. You can read more about it in our Sustainability Strategy Part 1 - 2020 TO 2023 and our three-page Strategy Summary.

One of the most important issues for us to tackle is reducing car use - our roads are already congested and our town continues to grow. With this in mind we have been working on providing alternative modes of transport for residents that make leaving the car behind an easy decision.

Watford and Three Rivers Sustainability Booklet: A greener, cleaner Watford

Together with Three Rivers District Council and Watford and Three Rivers Friends of the Earth, we've created a handy guide filled with hints, tips and advice on how to live in a more eco-friendly way.

Sustainable Transport Survey 2021

As part of our sustainable transport initiative, we asked the people who live, work and spend time in Watford for feedback via our Sustainable Transport Survey in May 2021 – all aimed at helping us to achieve our goal of making Watford a healthy and thriving place to live. Click to download the results of the Sustainable Transport Survey.

Feedback has been used to develop the draft Transforming Travel in Watford Strategy which is outlined on this web site: The strategy sets out how Watford Borough Council and Hertfordshire County Council intend to address these challenges with specific actions

We would also like your feedback on this, which can be provided via the website and our SurveyMonkey questionnaire
