The impact of improved sustainable travel options near Garston Station is becoming clear, with new figures highlighting strong use of the recently installed Beryl Bike bay...

Over the past year, a total of 738 bike journeys were recorded to the stand, demonstrating growing demand for active travel solutions and better end‑to‑end connectivity. The bay was installed close to Garston Station to make it easier for residents and commuters to combine cycling with rail travel, helping to reduce reliance on private cars and support greener journeys.

When compared across the wider network, the Garston Station stand has performed well. It ranked 28th out of 91 Beryl Bike bays across Watford, placing it solidly within the upper third of all locations. This is a positive result, particularly for a bay serving a local station rather than a town-centre destination.

Supporters say the figures highlight the value of investing in cycling infrastructure at transport hubs, where bike hire can play a key role in completing first‑ and last‑mile journeys. By improving access to sustainable travel options, the project supports healthier lifestyles, reduces emissions, and improves transport choice for local people.
