Dan Tien Performing Arts Studios received £30,079 from the council’s Neighbourhood Grant to improve their studio at Harebreaks Community Hub, supporting high-quality arts training for all ages.
This funding has been used to significantly upgrade the internal spaces and improve the overall experience for students, families and community participants. Enhancements include the installation of a new sprung floor in the first-floor hall, replacement waiting room seating, improved and additional storage, and the purchase of portable barres and mirrors to support both training and performances.
These improvements will allow The Dan Tien to welcome more residents into a high quality, accessible and safe space for creative activity. The upgrades will also enable a wider range of classes, workshops and community arts opportunities.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to support The Dan Tien Performing Arts Studios with these important upgrades to their facilities. This investment ensures that residents of all ages can enjoy creative, high quality performing arts activities in a professional and inclusive environment. The Dan Tien plays a valuable role in bringing people together through the arts, and I am pleased this funding will help them continue to grow their impact across our community.”
Amy Lazzerini, Director of The Dan Tien Performing Arts Studios, said: “We are incredibly grateful for this funding. The improvements to our studios will make a real difference to the experience of our students and anyone who uses our space. The new sprung floor, equipment and upgrades will support safer training, broaden what we can offer and help us continue creating a welcoming environment where creativity can thrive.”
