The exhibition, “Watford: A Town for Entertainment,” will be part of the brand-new Museum of Watford, celebrating the town’s vibrant cultural life, from live music and local bands to comedians, theatre, and unforgettable club nights.
The new Museum of Watford has been made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
From legendary performances at Watford Colosseum and the Palace Theatre to nights out at Baileys, Destiny, or Pryzm, and gigs at much-loved venues like the Pump House, LP Café, and The Horns, the display will showcase decades of music, laughter, and local creativity.
Residents are invited to contribute their memories and memorabilia to feature digitally as part of an interactive experience in the new museum. Items such as tickets, flyers, fan merchandise, photos, or video clips are all welcome, anything that tells the story of a night out or a performance that made Watford come alive.
How to take part
- Complete the online form to share your memory or the event you wish to feature, along with any memorabilia that helps bring it to life.
- The Museum team is happy to help with any questions, email museum@watford.gov.uk.
The Museum team will review all submissions and work with selected participants to digitise their materials for display. Every contribution will help paint a picture of Watford’s unique cultural heartbeat and the people who have shaped it.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Watford has always been a town that knows how to put on a show, whether it’s a gig at the Colosseum, a play at the Palace Theatre, or a night out with friends. This project is a fantastic way for our community to come together and celebrate the spirit, creativity, and joy that have made Watford such a special place for entertainment over the years. I can’t wait to see the stories and memories that residents share.”
Please note: due to anticipated interest, not all items submitted will be included in the final display. Contributors are asked not to send any physical items until contacted by the Museum team.
All photographs and video footage must have consent from those featured.
