Council expands People’s Panel to strengthen and reflect voice of residents

Watford Borough Council has announced plans to expand their ‘People’s Panel’, giving residents the opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the future of the town.

The initiative brings together a diverse group of residents from across the community, who will be invited to share their views, ideas, and experiences to help guide council priorities and decision-making. By involving residents more directly, the council aims to ensure that local voices are at the heart of shaping services and tackling the issues that matter most.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “We are committed to making Watford a vibrant, caring and successful place to live, work and start a business. That’s why we’re creating the People’s Panel, so that residents can have an impact on the future of Watford.

“You don’t need specific experience or qualifications to take part. What matters most is the desire to contribute to your community and help us navigate the opportunities ahead. I know Watford has many people who will rise to this challenge, and I look forward to working with them.”

Membership of the panel is open to all residents, with the council actively encouraging applications from people of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences to reflect the diversity of the town.

Those selected will be asked to commit to the full programme, with meetings and activities scheduled throughout the year. The council believes this will provide an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from residents and make more informed decisions that benefit everyone in Watford.
