In Watford, the Panel also makes recommendations on the Chairman's and Vice-Chairman's allowances.

The term of office for members of the Remuneration Panel is four years.  Panel members receive a payment of £200 per annum and travelling expenses outside the borough.  The Panel Chair receives a payment of £300 per annum.

To be a member of the Panel you must not:

  • be a member of any local authority in respect of which the panel makes recommendations
  • someone who would be disqualified from being an elected member of a local authority
  • be a member of a committee or a sub-committee of an authority in respect of which the panel makes recommendation, including co-opted members
