Previous successful projects at the Harebreaks and Boundary Way have already helped residents reduce their heating bills by improving the energy efficiency.  As well as offering the subsidised work to these areas again, the council has now secured funding to help residents around Riverside Road to benefit from the insulation scheme.

The affordable fixed price offer of £1,750 for the works  not only makes the homes cheaper to heat but more attractive too by refreshing the look in a choice of colours

Funding has been obtained from the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and fine Redress funding (which is fine money that was awarded to charities from previous missed energy reduction targets by the larger utility companies).  Combined with council support the scheme is able to offer residents this opportunity at a very reduced rate.  The energy savings, combined with savings to society and the NHS (by reducing health related incidences affected by the cold) are expected to average £620 per completed property per year.

External wall insulation reduces the amount of heating you need for your home. This can save hundreds of pounds a year in lower fuel bills and it also reduces the impact on the environment. It is good for your pocket and good for our planet too.”

Neil Walker, Energy and Renewal Surveyor at Watford Borough Council, said: “It’s great to offer the opportunity for residents to have their homes insulated, refreshing the look and making them more comfortable to live in. These works will provide much improved levels of energy efficiency, giving residents warmer homes, more control over bills and reducing their carbon footprint”.
