Veolia - Waste Collection

There will be a revised waste and recycling collection timetable this Bank Holiday Monday (26 August 2024). Collections will take place one day later during the week.

Collections will take place one day later during the week, from Monday 31 August, and returning to normal on Monday 7 September.

Check your collection calendar

Usual bin collection day Revised bin collection day
Monday 31 August  Tuesday 1 September
Tuesday 1 September  Wednesday 2 September
Wednesday 2 September  Thursday 3 September
Thursday 3 September  Friday 4 September
Friday 4 September  Saturday 5 September

As you're checking the updated collection calendar, it's also a good opportunity to make sure you're recycling the right items in your blue-lidded bin.

While many everyday items such as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, metal cans and glass jars can be recycled at home, some items can contaminate an entire load of recycling. In some cases, one incorrect item can make a whole truckload unsuitable for processing.

Please remember to rinse food and drink containers, squash bottles, cans and cartons to make more space in your bin, and place all recycling loose. Do not put recycling in plastic bags.

Our waste collection crews carry out visual checks and may not collect a recycling bin if there are contaminated items in them.

If you're unsure where an item belongs, use our Recycling A-Z guide to check before you bin it. Taking a few seconds to check can help ensure more materials are recycled and less waste ends up being rejected.
