Learn how dementia can affect people’s lives

Come along to a free dementia awareness session, run by Watford Community Housing

Watford Community Housing is supporting the Alzheimer’s Society by hosting free ‘Dementia Friends’ sessions:

  • Monday 21 May, from 6pm at Gateway House, 59 Clarendon Road
  • Tuesday 22 May, from 12.30pm at The Barn (opposite the Palace Theatre)
  • Wednesday 23 May, from 1pm at the Holywell Community Centre

Colette Coakley, Community Engagement Officer at Watford Community Housing said, “Giving local residents the opportunity to learn how to support people with dementia is something we’re really proud of. As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we asked our residents to request topics they would like to learn more about. How to detect and support sufferers of dementia was high on the list of suggestions, so we took that on board and arranged these three sessions.

"The subject of Alzheimer’s and dementia is an emotive one, and by making sure that this important topic is handled sensitively, we hope to raise awareness and increase the amount of day-to-day support for sufferers, family members and the general public. We have three sessions happening across Watford to help attract a wide range of people. We look forward to seeing you there to help support our community.”
