Residents warned of a security scam

Watford Borough Council is warning residents of a security scam.

Published: Tuesday, 8th May 2018

We have received a report of a scam where the caller pretends to be a security awareness company working with Watford Borough Council. The caller appears to sell equipment, which enables the individual to contact emergency services quickly.

We are advising Watford residents to be wary of any approach made in a telephone cold call and to never give or confirm any personal details.

Please help us to spread this message and tell your family and friends.

If you have been a victim of a scam or to report a scam, contact Action Fraud (UK’s National Fraud Office) on 0300 123 2040.

Herts Police and Herts County Council are able to offer more information about phone scams.
