Watford poll cards are being delivered to eligible voters this week, with everyone expected to have received theirs by Friday 30 March.
We're reminding everyone to hang onto your poll card and keep it safe, as you will need to present it at your polling station before you can vote in Watford’s Mayoral and ward elections on 3 May.
This is because Watford - along with four other councils - is taking part in the Electoral Commission’s voter ID pilot in a move to test how best to tackle electoral fraud.
Managing Director and Returning Officer for the council, Manny Lewis said: “The voter ID pilot is really straightforward - before people cast their vote in Watford, they will simply need to show their poll card. In case people forget or lose these, they can show alternative ID – all the information is on the website at watford.gov.uk/voterid.
“This is an important election for Watford because people will be voting in a new directly elected Mayor, so it’s vital that people do get out and vote.”
If you do not receive your poll card by 1 April, contact Watford Borough Council on 01923 278369 or email the Elections team.
