Watford Museum on Tour is back with their new event ‘From Watford, With Love’, a free drop-in event that will bring to life the many ways people in Watford communicated in the past, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Held at the Creator Space at Watford Central Library, the museum team will share the rich history of Watford with a display of objects from the collections which highlight the many ways that people have communicated with each other.

On Thursday 22 February (1:30pm – 3:30pm) and Friday 23 February (10am – 2pm), there will be entertaining craft activities for kids such as:

  • Making a fan and learning how people used them to create secret signals to each other
  • Creating a postcard to send to a special someone
  • Using the museum’s stamp template to create your own Watford stamp

Additionally, a selection from the museum's handling collection will be there, allowing attendees to touch and feel history, making this event an immersive and educational experience for all.

With the incredible funding of £68,679 from The National Lottery Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, this event is provided completely free, allowing everyone to enjoy Watford’s heritage.

Don't miss out on this enriching experience – 'From Watford, With Love' promises to be a journey through time that you won't soon forget.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “I think it's great we have organised this fantastic opportunity to explore Watford's history. There are some really interesting items from the collection at this event.

"If you're interested in the designs for the new museum’s location, you will be able to look at the Town Hall quarter progress, and provide invaluable feedback on how we are doing. This engagement helps our town ensure our heritage remains secure, and we can tell Watford's story to future generations. I can't wait to take my daughter there and see her learn more about Watford.

"Thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’re able to offer this immersive experience free of change, ensuring the event is accessible for everyone.”

Save the date for another exciting instalment as Watford Museum on Tour continues its journey, with a pop-up museum set to showcase a different facet of Watford's history at Atria on Thursday 11 April and Friday 12 April.
