Mayor’s Christmas card raises £8,000 for local Watford charities

Wbc press release christmas card 2023

This year’s Christmas card, sent by Elected Mayor of Watford, has raised £8,000 for local charities Playskill and Guideposts.

Every year, the Mayor sends out a card which is sponsored by local firms, voluntary groups and businesses across the town. This year the card was kindly sponsored by: Bugler Foundation, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Murrill, Everyone Active, Morgan Sindall Construction, Wenta, Berkeley Group, Camelot, Sigma Pharmaceutical, West Herts Golf Club and Veolia UK. Their contributions have not only helped spread the joy of the season but have made a tangible difference in the lives of those supported by Playskill and Guideposts.

Playskill, a charity dedicated to supporting children with physical difficulties, and Guideposts, an organisation assisting individuals with learning disabilities, will benefit immensely from the funds raised. These contributions will aid in providing essential services, support, and opportunities for those in need within our community.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Thank you so much to the eleven local businesses and organisations who have generously sponsored my Christmas card this year. Their generosity will benefit two fantastic local charities. Playskill and Guideposts do such important work in the community, and it is great to support them in this way. A big thank you to Holly from Playskill who designed this year’s card so well."

Watford Council, Playskill, and Guideposts are thrilled by the overwhelming response and support received from the local businesses, emphasising the collective strength of the community in making a substantial impact.
