Residents are reminded of the importance of recycling during the Easter period. Much Easter egg packaging can be placed in the blue-lidded recycling bin, which is for items including cardboard and plastic pots, tubs and trays. Food and garden waste goes in the green-lidded bin. The council delivered new food caddies to every house in Watford last year. The caddies can be fitted with biodegradable bin liners. You can then use them for all of your food waste before tying them up and throwing them into your green-lidded bin outside. Please ensure that you empty out any liquid and rinse food or drink residue before putting it in the right bin.

Jamie Sells, Head of Waste and Recycling at Watford Borough Council, said: “Recycling right helps prevent waste from going to landfill unnecessarily. This saves money and also prevents harmful methane gasses from being released into the atmosphere, and therefore helps the environment. We encourage everyone to do their bit to help the planet by recycling right.”
