Immerse yourself in a day of fun, learning and community with the River Colne Community Festival on Sunday 10 September from 12pm – 3pm, held at Knutsford Playing Fields.  

The festival is being held as part of our ‘Rediscovering the River Colne’ and ‘Tales of the River’ projects that aim to bring the Colne back into the heart of the community through restoration and heritage.

The event, which is free and suitable for families, invites all to discover the beauty of nature, gain insights into sustainability, and engage in fun activities.

Here's what you can look forward to at the festival:

  • Interact with a diverse range of fantastic organisations that are committed to preserving and enhancing our environment. Meet representatives from Watford Museum, Veolia UK, ColneCAN, Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, W3RT, Hertfordshire Fire Department, and many more!
  • Don't miss the opportunity to get beautiful Henna tattoos and support local artists.
  • There will be something for everyone! Kids and adults alike can enjoy a thrilling Bouncy Castle, ice cream and there will be a traveling tale's craft activity to unleash your creativity.
  • Learn about the essential in-river works that will take place in the coming months to improve the health of the River Colne.
  • Engage in insightful talks about river conservation and discover how you can contribute to this vital cause.
  • Discover the hidden facts and treasures of the River Colne and its significance in our ecosystem.
  • Learn about the role you can play in conserving and protecting our local environment for future generations.

As part of our commitment to community involvement, the River Colne Community Festival is made possible with the generous support of the council’s key partners: Groundwork, and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
