A new online tool by Watford Borough Council allows residents to find out when their bin collection day is and report if their waste or recycling has not been collected.
Residents simply have to enter their postcode when they visit the web page at www.watford.gov.uk/mybinday. The tool will then tell them when their next collection is due and enable them to report if their waste or recycling has not been collected on the correct day. This must be done by 5pm the day after the scheduled collection, so that the council’s partners at Veolia will have time to investigate what has happened.
It could be that the waste or recycling has not been collected for a legitimate reason – for instance, if recycling has been contaminated with waste that can’t be recycled. If so, residents will receive an automated response explaining the reason and the waste or recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection day if the issue has been rectified. If it’s because of a genuine mistake made by the collection teams, our partners at Veolia will return to collect the waste or recycling within 24 hours of receiving the report.
The new web page is a part of the council’s Digital Watford strategy to make its services available to residents and businesses across all communication channels. This includes giving residents and businesses more opportunities to do what they need to online at a time that’s convenient to them.
Cllr Peter Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Client Services, said: "Watford Council is committed to providing an excellent waste and recycling service. This new online service will make it easier for residents to check when their next collections will take place or to report any problems."
