Free compost for Watford residents

To say thank you to Watford residents for recycling, we are giving away free bags of compost this Thursday 30 April between 4 and 6pm.

Anyone who lives in Watford is welcome to come along to the depot on Wiggenhall Road (WD18 0FB) to pick a bag of high quality compost (one per household). This is made from the green waste we collect every fortnight via your kerbside recycling scheme.

All of the material we collect from your green waste bins – which includes food waste, grass cuttings, leaves and much more – is taken to West London Composting, to be made into nutrient-rich compost. This is great as a soil conditioner or mulch and also benefits the environment by preventing the waste from ending up in a landfill site, releasing harmful greenhouse gases.

Residents are requested to bring proof of their address with them such as a utility bill. Compost supplies are limited and will be issued on a first come first served basis.
