Watford’s outdoor ice rink opens its doors at 11am this Saturday.
The Big Skate, which last year saw more than 16,000 take to the ice, is set to be more spectacular this time round.
The rink will be bigger and adorned with a host of twinkling Christmas trees and fairy lights. Skaters and viewers can warm themselves up with a hot drink at the ski lodge café at the rink.
To mark the opening day, the Birmingham Ice Freestylers will be wowing crowds with their ice acrobatics and dancing throughout the day. They have something extra special planned for their performance at 4.45pm.
Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said: "People loved the rink last year and made it clear they wanted it back. We asked people what we could do better this time – they wanted it to be a bit bigger and to look a lot more Christmassy. So, we’re doing just that! Having this talented group in Watford to entertain people and celebrate the opening of the rink is really the icing on the cake."
