A much-loved part of Cassiobury Park is celebrating a special milestone this November, as the Tea Pavilion marks 100 years of bringing people together in Watford.

The pavilion, currently operated by Café in the Park, has been a familiar feature of the park for generations. To celebrate, residents and visitors are being invited to share their photographs and memories, helping to capture the place it holds in Watford’s history.

The celebrations will take place on Saturday 14 November, with Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor joining the festivities for a special cake-cutting ceremony during the first half of the event. Cake will be available on a first come, first served basis. Live music spanning the 1920s to the present day will run from 11am to 1pm, while Cassiobury parkrun will host a special fancy-dress run from 9am.

A collection of photographs and images will offer a glimpse into the Tea Pavilion’s 100-year history and its place in Cassiobury Park. The collection is planned to be on display from the week commencing 9 November until 1 December. A history talk with Friends of Cassiobury Park is also planned for Tuesday 17 November.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “The Tea Pavilion is a special part of Cassiobury Park and has been a place for people to meet, relax and make memories for generations. Reaching 100 years is a wonderful milestone, and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate its place in Watford’s history.

“I’d encourage residents to share their photographs and memories of the pavilion, helping us build a picture of the people and moments that have made it such a cherished part of our town.”

Residents who have photographs or memories of the Tea Pavilion are encouraged to get involved and help celebrate its 100-year history.
