Background of the scheme

EU, EEA and Swiss citizens living in the borough of Watford are being encouraged to apply now for the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living and working in the UK after 30 June 2021.

It is free of charge to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who do not apply in time for the deadline may lose the right to work and live in the United Kingdom.

Assistance with your application

The Home Office has over 1,500 staff working on the EU Settlement Scheme with 250 Settlement Resolution Centre staff in place to provide assistance to applicants with any questions about the scheme or who need help applying.

  • Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), 8 am to 8 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

Eligibility for benefits / social security

If you have applied for or have been granted settled or pre-settled status through the EU settlement scheme please email us or call 01923 278501 to update our records and continue to pay you Housing Benefits and Council Tax Reductions.

If you are an EU, EEA and Swiss citizens living in the borough of Watford and claim benefits, if you fail to apply in time for the deadline you will no longer be eligible to receive social security payments.
