Reapplying for a Postal Vote

What has changed?

Postal votes no longer last indefinitely, they now last for up to three years.

  • If you applied for a postal vote before 31 October 2023, you must renew your application by 31 January 2026
  • If you applied after 31 October 2023, your postal vote will be valid for a maximum of three years, after which you will need to reapply

If you do not renew your postal vote in time, legally we are required to cancel your vote and you will have to re-apply.

If you applied before 31 October 2023, we will contact you

If we have your email address, we will email with instructions:

  • From: Watford Borough Council – elections@watford.gov.uk
  • Subject: Notice of requirement to renew your postal vote

If we don’t have your email address, you will receive a renewal notice by post.
