Dementia Friendly Clubs in Watford

A free friendly place for carers of those living with dementia to come together for help, support and information at Bushey Baptist Church.
The club is held on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

A Creative Art Group for people living with dementia. This vibrant art programme provides age-appropriate, creative, and stimulating activities tailored to the needs, abilities, and interests of both the service users and carers who are participating. This social group provides peer interaction and support, whilst building positive memories. These sessions are aimed specifically for those with Young Onset Dementia (YOD), those diagnosed before 65 years old.

Hertswise has a Young Onset Worker (Sam Balding) who runs groups across the county, the Watford one is at North Watford Fire Station, St Albans Road WD24 7RX, on the last Thursday of the month from 11am to 1pm. Young Onset groups are aimed at those diagnosed with dementia aged 65 or under.

The Musical Herts project is a new adventure for Music24. Music24 strives to offer music-making opportunities to a wide spectrum of people in our community, however the groups are not open to the public. People can access these services by referral.
Sessions take please on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month from 10am to 11.30 am at the Pump House Theatre, Lower High Street, Watford, WD17 2JP (£5 per session).

Extra Time is a weekly social and activity programme for adults aged 55+, dedicated to improving physical, mental, and social wellbeing through friendship, movement, and fun. Designed for all abilities, each session combines physical activity with social time, refreshments, and opportunities to meet new people.
Every Thursday between 10am and 12pm at Vicarage Road Stadium and every Tuesday between 10am and 12pm at Meriden Community Centre.

Golden Memories is a reminiscence programme for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia. It provides a positive and supportive space where participants and their carers can relax, have fun, build friendships, and share experiences, while feeling understood, heard, and part of the golden community.
Based at the Vicarage Road Stadium’s Sensory room, every Monday 10:30am to 12pm, the programme covers the history of Watford FC, live music, art-based reminiscence activities, trips and days out.

Getting Together supports local social, health and wellbeing groups and activities across Watford & Three Rivers. There is always something for everyone to enjoy, keeping fit and active, taking part in a variety of activities, enjoying live music plus most importantly of all, meeting up with friends and having fun.

This group spends a lot of time drinking tea and eating biscuits whilst chatting, but in between, trying out some low-level physical activity. All activities will be guided by the people in the group, so for example if there is an interest in cricket, tennis, cooking or cycling, they will make the sessions as relevant as possible. Friday mornings from 10am-12pm in the Church's large and small halls (£5).

Activities and events for people living with memory loss and those needing companionship. They offer support groups and services with trained volunteers, relaxed and welcoming spaces to socialise, monthly theatre trips, counselling and therapy sessions, diagnosis support, training sessions and befrienders.

Singing for Memory are supporting people living with conditions that affect their memory. They run 'Singing Café Sessions' where people can enjoy singing and socialising, held on Mondays from 2pm - 3:30pm at St Albans Masorti Synagogue. Participants must be accompanied and it is £10 per pair.

With specialist power assisted equipment, the toning suite provides supported low impact exercise programmes for older adults with a range of health conditions (including dementia) that are new to exercise. For more information, please call 01923 892710. Specialist times - Toning tables every Friday 11.30am to 12.30pm, the carers have a choice of lane swimming/no strings badminton or a coffee in the café. All sessions are 50mins and start on the hour. An induction to the toning suite will be required before using the equipment and all Sessions must be booked in advance.
