Green Homes Grant
Funding to make homes warmer and more efficient has been secured from the government by Watford Borough Council to improve energy efficiency for low-income households.
Homes with low energy ratings (EPC’s) anywhere in the borough earning less than £30,000 could benefit from free external wall insulation, air source heat pumps, solar panels, loft and underfloor insulation.
All residents, regardless of income can also apply for grants and interest free loans for energy improvements.

Areas that are being targeted
Leavesden Road - 2,000 Terraced homes around the Leavesden Road map area (Leavesden Road) (PDF 1.47MB) have been sent a letter (PDF 272KB) for qualifying homes to receive up to £10,000 grants on a first-come-first-served basis.
Kingswood Estate - Over 850 residents on the Kingswood Estate in North Watford, (PDF 2.27MB) could also benefit will enjoy warmer, smarter homes thanks to the major energy saving scheme to make their homes warmer and more efficient. The energy savings, combined with savings to society and the NHS are expected to average £620 per completed property per year. Residents received a letter with the details . (PDF 274kB)
West Watford Area – Over 3000 homes in the west Watford area (see map) (PDF 4.71MB) can now benefit from measures such as solar panels and external wall insulation with grants and loans ranging from £100 up to fully funding over £10,000 for low income households. Households will receive a letter. (PDF 310kB)
The Square and The Thrums (and the Harebreaks estate) - The partnership between the council and Watford Community Housing (WCHT) has now started insulating in these areas.
