Notice of Intention to Commence Local Plan Making
The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, Part 4 Regulation 19
Under the new planning system, local authorities are required to publish a Notice of Intention to Commence local plan preparation. This provides communities and other stakeholders with advance notice of plan‑making.
Date of publication: 14 October 2026.
In accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, Watford Borough Council hereby gives notice that it is intending to commence preparation of a Review of the current Watford Local Plan (2021-2038). This Plan will cover the administrative area of Watford Borough, ONS E07000103, as shown in the map below.
The plan shall be referred to as the Watford Local Plan Review 2029.
You can view a hard copy of this Notice at Watford Town Hall, Rickmansworth Rd, Watford WD17 3EW, Watford Central Library, Hempstead Road, Watford, WD17 3EU and North Watford Library, St. Albans Road, Watford, WD24 7RW. These will be available during normal opening hours.
