Fly tipping and littering in your area
We have received a high number of reports of illegally dumped waste (fly tips) and littering in your area. Watford Borough Council and Veolia are taking action to tackle this.
Over the coming months, you may notice fly tips being cordoned off for investigation, signage in hotspot areas, and increased monitoring and enforcement.
Fly tipping is the illegal dumping of waste. This includes bulky household items such as mattresses or sofas, black bags left out on non-collection days, building or hazardous waste, and waste left next to litter bins. It harms the environment, creates health risks, looks unsightly and costs thousands of pounds each year to clear up. For more information, visit watford.gov.uk/flytipping.
You must dispose of your waste and recycling correctly using the wheelie bins provided, and take extra waste to a recycling centre. For information about your bin collections, recycling guidance and excess waste options, visit watford.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling.
Fly tipping is a criminal offence and can result in a £600 fixed penalty notice.
