New waste and recycling services calendar on its way to Watford residents
An important information leaflet with details of the recycling and waste service changes that are launching on 7 September 2020 is being delivered to all households in the borough.
The leaflet will include a new collection calendar, information about the food waste collection and chargeable garden waste services along with revisions to some resident’s allocated collection days. .
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “We delayed the launch of the waste and recycling service change due to COVID-19. We are continuing to keep residents informed of the changes so you can understand how they will affect you. These new changes will mean that Watford residents receive an excellent service and we are able to recycle more of our waste."
Darren Harding, Senior Contract Manager for Veolia, said “We are working hard to ensure our crews are prepared for the upcoming service change. We ask that residents also prepare by familiarising themselves with the service change information leaflets, taking specific note of their new collection calendars because they will be changing from September. ”
The changes agreed for the waste and recycling service include:
- the introduction of a weekly collection of food waste with households receiving a new 23 litre outdoor brown bin to make recycling food waste easy
- retention of the weekly collection of the blue lidded recycling bin that means the majority of people’s waste will still be collected each week
- a fortnightly collection of the black bin for non-recyclable waste
- the introduction of a yearly subscription service for fortnightly collections of garden waste (using existing green bins). This will cost £45, £40 if paid by direct debit and £35 to those who are entitled to a concession
The recycling and waste service will change on 7 September 2020 and the annual payment date for the garden waste service is now 1 September 2020. Find out more information at www.watfordrecycles.com
