Watford town centre businesses were celebrated for outstanding customer & client service this week at Watford Colosseum...
Run by Watford Business Improvement District (BID), the annual Service Excellence Awards awarded businesses on Tuesday 3 March following the results of a public vote, an independent mystery shopping visit and customer exit interviews.
Now in its fourth year, the Service Excellence Awards cover 15 categories across the main business sectors operating in the town centre area. New additions to our town centre in the last 12 months proved that they can maintain the high customer services standards set by Watford businesses, with awards given to Las Iguanas in the Hotel/Restaurant category andThe Florist in the Bar category, whilst Fireaway Pizza also took home an award for best Takeaway and Fast-Food outlet.
With a great selection of retailers in Watford town centre, the awards were split into three different categories; John Lewis took home the Large National Retailer award for a superb fourth time, Hotel Chocolat picked up the award for Small National Retailer and finally Runners World won the Independent Retailer award in an extremely competitive category.
Bosleys were victorious in the Pub category narrowly seeing off last year’s winners The Moon Under Water, whilst PRYZM once again won the Nightclub accolade. Debenhams may have just missed out on the Large National Retailer award, however Loaf & Bloom situated in-store was the winner of the Cafe & Coffee Shop category.
Last year’s awards saw wins for Flight Centre, Metro Bank, and Warren Anthony Estate Agents with 2020 seeing all three maintain their outstanding level of customer service to swoop home the awards in their respective categories.
Pumphouse Theatre were recognised for their outstanding customer service in the Leisure & Live Entertainment category, and there were also first-time wins for Artisan seeing off competition for Hair, Beauty, and Professional Care, and Citizens Advice Bureau for their contributions to Watford’s Community & Voluntary sector.
As well as recognising outstanding customer/client service from the whole team, the awards ceremony also recognises a handful of the stand-out individuals from the past 12 months. Tamara Tortoso of Sugarman Health & Wellbeing and Saulo Godoy of Fireaway Pizza were commended with excellent employee awards, whilst Benjamin Vis was highly commended for his work at Metro Bank. However, the overall winner of the Excellent Employee award was Zoe Forrest from intu Watford. Zoe’s intu Watford team of security staff were also recognised with the security/door staff accolade.
The final award of the evening was an Outstanding Contribution award which went to Frances Novillo, she is part of the fabulous Street Angels team providing incredible care & support for those who may find themselves vulnerable in Watford town centre late at night.
