Helping Watford to stay clean and green

In support of the national Love Where You Live campaign, Watford Borough Council with its partners Veolia, helped a local fast food chain to organise a litter pick in the town.

Around 25 team members from local branches of McDonalds - sponsors of the Love Where You Live campaign by Keep Britain Tidy - collected over thirty bags of litter from St Albans Road and Callowland Recreation Ground.

Five local branches came together to carry out the litter picking – on this occasion led by the St Albans Road branch – joined by staff from the Garston, Borehamwood, London Colney and Jarman Park restaurants.

Veolia provided equipment for their staff, including high visibility jackets, sacks and litter pickers. These kits are available to any group or organisation that would like to get involved and improve their local area.

One of the councils priorities is to make Watford a better place to live in, and the team at Veolia work very hard to help us achieve that, collecting over 1860 tonnes of waste from Watford's streets and parks last year.
