Herts Pride, the county’s largest LGBTQ+ event, will return to Watford next week, to celebrate the community and its allies.
Herts Pride, the county’s largest LGBTQ+ event, will return to Watford next week to celebrate the community and its allies, supported by Watford Borough Council.
Hosted in Cassiobury Park on 14 August, the event will run between 12:00pm and 10pm, and everyone is welcome! The space will feature a magnificent array of stalls, a funfair, delicious food, a diverse mix of entertaining acts, and la pièce de résistance – the legendary Herts Pride dog show, in which our four-legged companions will strut their stuff to win fabulous prizes.
The dog show will run between 2pm and 3pm, with a plethora of adorable categories – including ‘waggiest tail’, ‘most appealing eyes’ and ‘rescue dog’, amongst other important groupings.
Headline acts will include RuPaul’s Drag Race star Sister Sister, 90’s pop-sensation Rozalla, and 911 – the 90’s boyband who rose to prominence with such hits like ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’, ‘Body Shakin’’ and ‘A little bit more’. There will also be a variety of local acts performing from around Hertfordshire – including singer Mikey Kanes, drag artist Vicki Vicacious and radio host and singer Mel Switters.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said, “Watford prides itself on its diversity, which includes our wonderful LGBTQ+ community. We’re so pleased to be able to host Herts Pride in Cassiobury Park this year, and we welcome people from all over Hertfordshire to come and celebrate alongside us."
Herts Pride will also house a Health and Wellbeing Marquee, which will offer advice and information from a variety of organisations, as well as a Covid-19 vaccination clinic – which will run between 11am and 3pm, is available for walk-ins, and will be situated at the entrance. The clinic will be offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine, with the second only available to those who had their first dose eight weeks or more prior. Attendees are encouraged to follow safety precautions, and the Hertfordshire County Council roving rapid testing team will also be in attendance.
