Local scout group helps clean up Woodside Playing Fields
Watford Borough Council Cllr Stephen Cavinder who represents Woodside Ward in partnership with Veolia, has organised a local activity with a scout group.
The council’s partner, Veolia, who is responsible for waste collections, streets and parks maintenance services, arranged for cubs from the 9th North Watford Scout Group to litter pick in their favourite park Woodside Playing Fields.
The Cubs are currently working towards completing their community badge and used litter pickers provided by Veolia to collect nearly twenty kilograms of rubbish from the Green Flag awarded Woodside park.
Councillor Stephen Cavinder who organised the event said: “This was a great initiative and I was delighted to see the cubs embrace it with such vigour. Without doubt, the presentation which our colleagues at Veolia provided before the litter pick helped put into context the importance of keeping our green spaces litter free.”
Darren Harding, Senior Contract Manager at Veolia added: “Veolia works hard to maintain Watford’s award winning parks and among other duties we litter pick daily. 9th North Watford Cubs did an excellent job clearing up the area and we hope their actions will inspire other residents to look after their local environment and not drop litter in our beautiful parks and streets.”
The litter picking session at Woodside was part of a sequence of activities helping the cubs obtain their community badge.
