Big Beach returns to Watford Parade as part of Summer of Fun

Big beach on Watford parade

Watford Borough Council's Big Beach returns to the town centre, as part of 2021's Summer of Fun!

We’re bringing the beach to Watford this summer, with Watford Borough Council’s Big Beach!

Part of this year’s Summer of Fun, Big Beach will be held on the Parade – an outdoor venue full of glorious golden sand, and decorated with beach chairs and benches. The space will also house a beach hut, with staff on hand to distribute a variety of fun games and to answer any questions you might have.

The event is completely free, and will run between 9–22 August, with the beach hut open between 10am and 4.30pm each day – although the beach itself will remain open for the duration of the event.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own food and drink, or if they prefer, Big Beach is surrounded by many fabulous restaurants and food stands to choose from.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said, “Since many residents can’t make it to the coast this summer, we’re bringing the coast to Watford! We encourage everyone to pay the Big Beach a visit, to make the most of the summer sun and enjoy the sand between their toes! And don’t forget to sample some of the incredible food and drink from our local restaurants while you’re at it!”

For more information about Big Beach, as well as our other summer events, visit the Summer of Fun website.

Please note, the event is run in conjunction with current government Covid-19 guidelines.
