The community of Watford came together in a remarkable display of solidarity and support as Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Aga Dychton, led a successful 10-mile walk along the Abbey Line Trail. Joined by Watford Police Chief Inspector, Andy Wiseman, and enthusiastic members of the public, the event raised £1,000 in donations for the Watford Women's Centre.

The walk commenced at 10 on Sunday 25 February, starting from Watford Junction station and concluding at St Albans Abbey station. Participants of all ages, families, and groups joined in, demonstrating their commitment to the cause of empowering and supporting women in Watford and its surrounding areas.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: "We are honoured to support the Watford Women's Centre through this walk along the Abbey Line trail. The Centre does incredible work in our community, and we hope this event will not only raise funds but also raise awareness about the services they provide."

Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Holder for Community, Cllr Aga Dychton, said: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for the walk, contributing to a meaningful dialogue about the important work undertaken by the Watford Women's Centre. Together, we are actively challenging attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence against women and girls, paving the way for a community where everyone can thrive in safety and respect.”

Fiona Miller, Cheif Executive Officer of Watford Women's Centre, said: "Watford Women's Centre extend a big thank you to Peter Taylor and Aga Dychton and all those who took part in the walk on Sunday to raise funds for our charity. Each year we support over 1,000 women impacted by domestic abuse and relationship difficulties to lead independent, healthy and productive lives free from abuse. The support shown by those who participated sends a powerful message that we refuse to turn a blind eye to this important social problem."
