120 years NOT OUT: Crematorium staff rewarded for their long service

The staff at West Herts Crematorium got an early Christmas present from Watford Borough Council Managing Director Manny Lewis – awards for their combined 120 years of working there.

Three of the team – Graham Dobson, Russ Whitely and Christine Baxter – joined the crematorium in 1993, while Crematorium Manager Jane Thomas has herself clocked up 20 years of service. Ian Tunwell has served 21 years at the crematorium and Steven Savage has worked there for 12 years.

Amazingly, the team have more than 120 years of service at the crematorium between them.

Manny Lewis said: “The West Herts Crematorium provides an outstanding service to the local community. To have such experienced long serving staff who care passionately about their work is really exceptional.”

The West Herts Crematorium has been serving the community since 1959 and provides a tranquil setting, off High Elms Lane, for people to remember their loved ones. The crematorium serves residents from the Watford, St Albans, Hertsmere, Dacorum and Three Rivers districts of Hertfordshire.
