Sustainable shared transport experts Beryl are helping riders Warm Up To Winter by ensuring that bike share schemes remain as fun, flexible and as safe as possible to use during the colder months...

Launching this Sunday (29 October), Warm Up to Winter is a campaign designed to help boost rider confidence as temperatures drop by challenging common misconceptions about winter riding and providing helpful advice.

Coinciding with the clocks going back, Warm Up to Winter shows that the changing season doesn’t have to put two wheeled travel on ice until spring.

There will be a quiz, where participants can win 20% off Minute Bundles/Rider Passes, along with videos, Scoot Happy sessions, giveaways and how-to blogs to help riders:

  • Feel safer on the roads;
  • Adapt quickly and easily to the changing seasons/conditions;
  • Most importantly, boost their confidence

Plummeting temperatures don’t put a freeze on the benefits of shared bikes and e-bikes, which remain convenient, fun, flexible, easy-to-use, cost effective and remove the expense of parking, fuel, tax, storage and maintenance.

Phil Ellis, Beryl CEO and co-founder, said: “We understand that people can be unsure about riding through the winter months, but there are some really simple tips that can help maintain the fun, flexibility and convenience of shared sustainable transport.

“This campaign is all about making this advice accessible, ensuring that existing riders are happy to maintain their sustainable transport habits and new ones can warm up to the idea of winter riding.

“By helping people feel more comfortable and prepared, we can continue to contribute towards cutting congestion, reducing carbon emissions and keeping people active.

“So whether it's coping with the cold, fighting off the frost or dealing with the dark, we’ve got you covered this winter.”

The Beryl Annual Rider Report 2022 showed that over 40% of all bike and e-bike riders cited weather as a factor that affected confidence when riding.
