It’s the first day of the school holidays, so get your skates on: Why not visit Watford Borough Council’s magnificent Watford Big Skate ice rink?
The weekend hours – 10am to 10pm – are being extended throughout the week during the festive break. The rink can be found on The Parade by the pond in Watford town centre.
Cllr Karen Collett, Portfolio Holder for Community, said: “This brilliant news will mean that even more people can enjoy the Big Skate. There’s something for everyone here – a fantastic ice rink, fairground rides, a bar serving a variety of drinks to get you into the Christmas spirit including mulled wine, cider and continental beer. There’s also tea, coffee, hot chocolate, burgers, German sausages, and more.
“Watford’s outdoor ice rink has become a real Christmas feature for the town. It means that people from Watford and nearby can experience this lovely winter-time treat without traipsing into London, which can be both costly and stressful. Watford has the full Christmas package – you can do your shopping, take in a panto or a show, have a lovely meal and top it all off with outdoor ice skating!”
You can turn up on the day and skate if the rink hasn’t yet reached full capacity, or book a ticket in advance at http://www.watfordbigevents.co.uk/big-skate, where you can also find costs and the full festive opening hours. Normal hours, 10am – 10pm at the weekends, and 12noon to 9pm during the week, will resume when the school holidays finish – from 5 January to 15 January.
