Big Sport Day fitness fun bonanza

Watford town centre’s The Parade will be transformed by trampolines, giant zorbs, a BMX course, climbing wall, athletics track and more during the FREE Big Sports Day extravaganza this Saturday.

The event will fill the long pedestrianised area for the third year running from 11am to 5pm on Saturday this week, and promises to be the biggest and best yet.

There will be family fun races for all ages and abilities on the portable athletic track during Big Sports Day. Plus the likes of Watford FC’s much-loved Harry the Hornet and the loveable Peppa and George Pig will do battle in the heated mascot races.

There will be Zumba, boxercise and biking challenges and more from Watford’s NRG and Fitness 4 Less gyms. The up-and-down BMX course will give young and old the chance to try out biking and the cricket factory will teach visitors how to bat, bowl and throw.

Watford FC will provide a target wall competition and zorbing.  And if that is not enough you can also take up the Lawn Tennis Association’s target wall and speed of serve challenges or test your skills on a climbing wall, giant football rodeo, trampolines, basketball shoot out and a snowboard stimulator.

Then there’s the training area from Top Golf and the soothing Health and Well Being Area with its human MOTs from local GPs.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Baroness Dorothy Thornhill said: “This really is an amazing event to be part of. It’s wonderful seeing all the happy faces of people at this health and fitness fun sporting extravaganza, enjoying our thriving town centre. The Big Screen on the Beach event has just finished – a month of sandy fun in front of a giant outdoor cinema in Watford’s The Parade. Next up after the Big Sports Day, we’ve got the Big Skate – a month of wintry excitement on our giant outdoor ice rink. We always think big in Watford, and we’re keen to continue to be a favourite destination for everyone.”
