Watford Council is bringing a slice of Rio to the town and showing the Olympic Games highlights at Big Screen on the Beach from 6 – 21 August.
The two-in-one event, which merges an urban beach and an outdoor cinema, will bring the world’s biggest sporting spectacle to life by also holding a host of Olympic and sports inspired activities.
If you’re feeling sporty, you and the whole family can take part in a range of activities. Over the Olympic opening weekend there will be a gymnastics display, sports and even a dance workshop with star guests George and Peppa Pig.
On Monday 8 August Everyone Active is running Watford’s very own mini Olympics, with athletics trials, team games and soft play equipment. YMCA is carrying on the Olympic celebration on Thursday 11 August with sporting challenges for all ages. There is something different to do every day, so stay tuned to watfordbigevents.co.uk/beachactivities.
Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: ‘Having the Olympic Games showing at Big Screen on the Beach will really bring the feel-good factor to the town centre. The athletes are inspirational and it’s wonderful that families will have the chance to join in the sporting vibe in all the activities we have planned to celebrate the Olympics.’
