Watford Council has been putting government funding to good use by installing external wall insulation in homes around the town.
At the end of 2015, a total of 165 homes had benefited from the insulation - saving residents £55,900 on fuel each year and reducing CO2 by 236.5 tonnes every year.
The latest area to enjoy some extra warmth and lower heating bills is Harebreaks. Elzbieta Gradkowska from Chestnut Walk said: “It's been wonderful and I'm looking forward to the savings on my heating bills. As soon as the insulation went on I noticed the difference. It's lovely and cosy and once it's warmed up it stays warm for a long time.”
Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill added: “The latest insulation scheme has been such a success that we are already applying for more funding. Speaking to residents from Harebreaks it is clear what a real difference the insulation makes to their everyday lives – and it’s greener, so it’s win-win.”
