Filling in a short survey could help residents get the exercise classes they are looking for as Watford Council is asking for views on sports and fitness classes that people really enjoy.
The council can improve its own exercise sessions in future by understanding more about how people stay active now, and any barriers they may currently face to keeping fit.
The council’s Get Active programme already provides a range of free and low-cost activities for people to take part in. These include badminton on Saturdays from 12.30pm to 1.30pm at Watford Central Leisure Centre and skateboarding from 7.30pm to 9pm at Watford YMCA – both free. There is also walking football for the over-40s at Watford Grammar School for Girls every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm – again free. You can learn more about the programme at www.watfordgetactive.co.uk
The survey results will be used to shape the council’s future sport and physical activity provision and can be completed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Sport-Physical-Activity-2015 THIS SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED
Plus, everybody who takes part in the survey will be entered into a prize draw. They could win family tickets for #WatfordBigSkate – the bigger and better outdoor ice rink that’s returning to the town’s premier events space by the pond from Saturday. Other prizes include one month free membership of Watford Everyone Active gyms and swimming pools, a £25 JD Sports voucher, £50 Amazon voucher or Watford FC match tickets.
Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said: “We want everyone to enjoy the range of benefits that come with taking part in physical activity. It can improve your physical and mental wellbeing, so we want to make sure there’s something there for everyone to enjoy. Complete this survey and you’ll have helped us continue to provide you with the best possible free sports and fitness activities.”
