Watford Market will be opening its doors after hours to welcome town centre visitors to its first-ever night event ‘Market Lates’ organised by Watford Borough Council and Market Asset Management next month (3 September).

Set to a soundtrack of live music reminiscent of a relaxed festival vibe from local and national performers, the first ‘Market Lates’ takes place on Friday 3 September and will include craft beer, a prosecco bar and delicious street food from around the globe between 5.30pm to 10pm, to help bring the Market to life, by night.

Making the most of its outdoor space and offering a feast for the eyes, ears and the belly, the market’s popular food stalls will be rustling up delicacies to delight your taste buds, including Caribbean, Asian and Korean street food. Visitors will be able to enjoy the special ambience of market dining and be treated to a menu of fresh dishes plus drinks in the covered casual dining space.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “The Market Lates event will be a great opportunity for visitors to discover some of the market’s popular traders, whilst enjoying a night out with friends or family. They will be an ongoing community project designed to support local traders and producers, and also enhance the town’s night-time economy, by bringing colour and light to the streets of Watford. I am really looking forward to experiencing some of the food and drink that will be on offer whilst meeting new faces.”

Asia Village will be at Market Lates

A Friday night out with a difference, the event strives to support the local economy by promoting local businesses and celebrating home grown artistic talent with the entertainment on offer. It will also give visitors the opportunity to socialize in a different and more relaxed market environment, with the opportunity to see some of the improvements that have been made to the area, including new signage and planting, communal seating areas and some new traders.

This is a pilot event which has been organised to enable people visiting Watford Town Centre on an evening to see what the market has to offer as a social venue. Future events will be held throughout the year and will be advertised on the council’s and market social media channels and website.

Entry is free to ‘Market Lates’ and for more information, please visit our events website or follow the dedicated social media channels on FacebookInstagram or Twitter using the handle @watfordtownmarket.
