This grant will help us to create safer, easier-to-use spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. By increasing walking and cycling, we'll improve health, air quality, road safety, the local economy and traffic congestion.

How can you get involved?

In Watford, four sites have been identified by Hertfordshire County Council where improvements may be made as part of this fund. The council like to hear how you think these areas could be improved in line with what we've already suggested.

  • Wiggenhall Road – upgrading the temporary cycle lane to provide a permanent facility.
  • Cassiobury Estate – creating a low traffic neighbourhood with alterations to vehicle access. To assist in discouraging ‘rat running’ traffic and provide an improved walking and cycling environment.
  • Watford Business Park to Cassiobury – improved cycle facilities via quiet roads and the park, linking the business park to the town centre and station. Proposals include junction improvements at Stratford Way and Hempstead Road.
  • Town Centre – upgrading existing cycle lanes along parts of High Street and Market Street.
