Watford Borough Council with support from Watford Palace Theatre combined their talents and experience to transform the town centre this month (August) into a place of wonder and excitement, with spectacular theatre, circus, dance and music performances!
To help support the community through the Covid-19 recovery and return to some ‘sense of normality’, the council organised local artists to perform in the town centre to entice people back into the high street to support businesses and most importantly for people to enjoy being out and about again!
To also make up for the loss of the brilliant arts festival ‘Imagine Watford’ this year, audiences were able to enjoy high-energy hip-hop dance from the b-boy breakers, enchanting children’s theatre from The Whizzers, a wacky genuine robot and much more!
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said “Arts, entertainment and culture, in their many guises, will play a vital part in rebuilding our confidence and enthusiasm for life. I'm pleased that we are able to bring our town together in this way and, despite these recent challenges and provide these events free of charge. We are looking forward to welcoming Imagine Watford back in 2021 and we will very much welcome the opportunity to showcase Watford with some of the world’s top performance artists next year.”
The town centre entertainment is part are part of a wider programme of Big Events staged by Watford Borough Council and its partners in the town centre and parks throughout the year. For more information visit watfordbigevents.co.uk
