Bin type and collection frequency

This guide is for architects and other people involved in designing developments in Watford to ensure that they enable waste and recycling to be stored and collected safely. All
premises must have adequate provision to store waste and recycling. The waste collection service is delivered by the council’s partner Veolia. All residential developments are entitled to waste and recycling collections provided they meet the
requirements as set out in this guide.

Developers are required to let the council know if they are not going to use the council’s
waste provider for the collection of waste and recyclin

*Chargeable garden waste bins can be provided where communal properties have a garden. This optional, paid for service would be dependent on the managing agent/site manager’s preference and can be rolled out after the development has been completed if required.

Developers must contact Veolia on 0203 567 6900 to arrange the purchase and delivery of wheelie bins giving at least one months' notice prior to the occupation of the property.  Only bins supplied by Veolia will be emptied.  Contact details for the managing agent of the development must also be provided.

140 and 240 litre bin are supplied free of charge (where appropriate), 1100 and 660 litre bins are chargeable, refer to Bin Prices for costs.
