Extra waste

Waste, recycling and streets collection crews are operating with reduced staffing due to Coronavirus. They need to focus their resource on continuing normal waste, recycling and litter bin collections.  Please help by trying to reduce the amount of extra waste you create.

  • If you are using the time to clear out large bulky items and other items you will need to hold on to this waste and keep it inside your property
  • do not leave mattresses and sofas outside - these could attract rats
  • do not leave extra sacks on or around your bin
  • do not leave waste on the street or around litter bins
  • do not flytip - this is illegal
  • If using a private waste collector, check they have a waste carriers licence

Only fill up the bins you have with your usual household waste

Bulky waste collection returned on 18 May. For more information, please view our press release.

Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs)

Hertfordshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) reopened from Monday 11 May (including Waterdale and Rickmansworth) to allow residents, where essential, to dispose of waste that cannot be put in their normal recycling bins or safely stored at home.
