Elections in Watford

Local elections - Thursday 6 May 2021

On the 6 May 2021 local elections will be held in Watford for Watford Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council and the Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

If you are registered to vote you will be sent a poll card in advance of the election. Please read the information it contains as there have been changes this year due to Covid-19.

If you are concerned about voting in person at your polling station please consider applying for a postal or proxy vote.

Covid-19 safety measures

Additional arrangements are being put in place at polling stations to help you and the polling staff stay safe at the 6 May local elections:

  • Requirements for staff and voters to wear face coverings (where they are able to)
  • Recommendation to bring your own pencil or pen
  • Hand sanitiser available at polling stations
  • Regular cleaning of touch points in polling stations
  • Social distancing and queue management
  • New polling stations better suited to social distancing
  • If you choose to vote in person please follow the signs and guidance from staff at your polling station.

You should not attend the polling station if you have symptoms of Covid-19, or if you have been asked to self-isolate. You may be able to apply for an emergency proxy in this case.
