Temporary Accommodation Frequently Asked Questions

How do I request a review?

There are different review processes depending on whether the accommodation offered is interim or temporary.

Interim accommodation is accommodation provided whilst your homeless application is being assessed, i.e pending a decision.

The review process for interim accommodation is by Judicial Review, i.e. legal action through the courts.

Temporary accommodation is accommodation provided after a decision has been made on your case, i.e. after you have been found eligible, homeless, priority need and not intentionally homeless.

The review process for temporary accommodation is a review under section 202 of the Housing Act 1996 i.e the council reconsidering the original decision.

Both processes may take several weeks so we always recommend you move into accommodation during the review.
